1st Trimester

Welcome to your first trimester! Whether you’re a first-timer or seasoned Mumma, there is a lot to look forward to and plan.

First things first – take a second to breathe! You may experience tiredness and lack of mobility in the later stages of your pregnancy, so let yourself have some time to adjust.

Make sure you start taking your prenatal vitamins and extra nutrients you may need to help baby grow.

If you’re the naturally active sort, there’s no reason why you shouldn’t continue with your current exercise regime. Do consult with your doctor on what activities you’re able to do and what changes are necessary. If you’re looking to remain fit while pregnant, you can consider signing up for prenatal yoga and pilates or work with a personal trainer who is experienced in dealing with pregnant women.

This is also a great time to start planning your birth and postpartum needs. As you read birth and pregnancy books, do know that you have options regarding the kind of birth you may want and there are plenty of expert services and communities to guide you. Birth doulas and hypnobirthing or water birth coaches can help to create your birth plan, navigate how to have them in local hospitals and help to act as intermediaries.

If you intend to have postpartum help, like a confinement nanny and massage lady, now is the time to seek recommendations and book their services. The best ones will get snapped up pretty quickly!

While you may be feeling tired and squeamish during this time, do hold off prenatal massages and spa visits until the second trimester. Hang in there, Mumma!
